Many people know Adam Goldstein as DJ AM, celebrity dj. He had many friends and influenced many people. He was a genuis, an innovator and a survivor. Last September DJ AM was involved in the Learjet crash that took the lives of four other people, leaving him and Travis Barker (Blink 182, +44, Transplants) as the only survivors. On August 28th, 2009 less than a year after that crash, Adam Goldstein was found dead in his SoHo apartment in New York City. This sent shockwaves rocketing through the music community as news reached people. Everyone took to their twitter accounts to express the grief they felt for the passing genuis.

Saturday night in Hartford, CT Mark Hoppus used the stage to express his greif for the passing of his dear friend Adam Goldstein. There was a moment of slience and many tears, not only from the band, but from many fans throughout the very silent Comcast Theater in Hartford. Here’s a video from that show. Fans can enter this exclusive album listening party by turning their social Twitter updates into digital currency – essentially purchasing a ticket to the event with one tweet by tweeting the suggested message “You can listen to the new @wearetheused album #Artwork today for 24 hours only at http://twitter.theused.net. ONE TWEET GETS YOU IN.”

Once inside the listening party, fans can stream Artwork in its entirety, see other fans participating in the listening party, and be some of the first to purchase the album on itunes, Rhapsody or TheUsed.net. Artwork is the fourth studio album from Reprise Records artists The Used. Early critical acclaim for the Matt Squire-produced Artwork has been effusive. Callahan have strived to separate themselves from typical pop punk. On several occasions this band has been said to be the #1 unsigned band in the country. The band’s latest release “Face The Day” has recieved praise from publications such as Absolutepunk and Purevolume. I’ve included some tour dates for Callahan. Jim Lindberg leaves Pennywise

This is the statement the remaining members of Pennywise have released on Jim’s departure.

“After 19 years with Pennywise, Jim Lindberg has decided to step down as lead singer. Pennywise has long stood behind the motto that you should always follow your heart and pursue what makes you happy, and we wish Jim the best of luck in his new ventures, whatever they may be. Pennywise has become a way of life for a lot of people, and has definitely become a way of life for us. As the three remaining members of Pennywise we feel that we are not done delivering our message to our fans.

”The band has always been about moving forward in life no matter what obstacles stand in front of you. We will begin our search for a new singer immediately. We will continue to tour the world and we are looking forward to writing new music. We’ve had a lot of good times and survived the hard times thanks to the undying support of our fans. We’re looking forward to what the future may bring.”

Pennywise has been an influential band throughout the lives of many people growing up in this scene and as sad as we are to see Jim go, we wish him the best of luck in his future endevours and hope to see Pennywise continue to make the music we’ve all grown to love over the last 19 years.
